The Millennial Generation And Their Present Situation
While named Generation Y and the "echo boomers" much of this population prefers to be identified as the name that they gave to themselves: the millennial generation. This group is commonly defined as those born from about 1980 until the end of the century. They grow up in the new 21st century and this is how they take their name. A number of people in the millennial generation also want to differentiate themselves clearly from Generation X.
The millennial generation is frequently called the echo boomers because they are also the result of a baby boom. While there is disagreement about precisely how many years to mark as part of this generation, the millennials will number anywhere between 76 million and 80 million which makes them the same size as the baby boomers if not a little larger. Like the baby boomers, a group this large cannot help but have a significant impact on all phases of life in America.

Baby boomers were to adapt to rapidly advancing technologies and use them while this newer generation was immersed in the digital age essentially from birth. This millennial or Y generation is more likely to come from a family having a working mother and to come from a separated family. Rapidly changing technologies also indicate that many jobs become obsolete and continuing education and teaching is absolutely important. While their parents and grandparents usually wanted to keep a job for decades if not their whole career, this is no longer the scenario.
Not only is the millennial generation more likely to change jobs several times in their working times, they are likely to change the whole direction of their careers to find a match in an increasingly tight job sector. A college degree is no longer a guarantee of an easy hire and a good paying position and underemployment as well as unemployment is a grave concern for this demographic.
